Phil Weiser Fundraiser
(A note from the organizers)
As we head into re-election time here in CO, it is becoming increasingly important that we stand up for what we believe in by supporting and championing the individuals who are fighting for justice and all of us each day. There are several deserving candidates of our time and money, but I am asking you to join me in supporting or learning more about Attorney General, Phil Weiser.
On Tuesday, September 6th at 5:30pm, I and others will host a fundraiser and info session for Phil Weiser’s re-election at Snooze 7th and Colorado. We will imbibe, snack, hear from Phil, conduct Q&A, and ultimately catch up as friends.
Phil has been an incredibly effective AG for our state and is incredibly hard-working, principled, and an amazing human being. Here are a few highlights from his tenure, so far…
- Phil has fought for equality and defended access to healthcare under the Affordable Care Act.
- Phil prevailed in the historic decision, Colorado Department of State v. Baca, ensuring that faithless electors cannot thwart the will of Colorado voters.
- Under Phil’s leadership, the AG’s office is putting people first and leading with empathy. Phil has protected Colorado’s air, water, and land and is addressing the opioid epidemic, holding wrongdoers like Purdue Pharma accountable and bringing hundreds of millions of dollars to Colorado for treatment, recovery, and education/prevention programs.
- Phil has revitalized the AG’s consumer protection efforts, rooting out illegal price-fixing by generic drug companies and addressing anti-competitive health care consolidation.
- Phil has worked hard to improve our criminal justice system and protect public safety. He has led on gun violence prevention and worked to build trust in law enforcement through training, accountability, and transparency.
Why am I hosting? Phil is in for a tough reelection campaign because 2022 promises to be a difficult year for Democrats in Colorado. Just consider last year’s Virginia election, where incumbent Attorney General Mark Herring—who won by a bigger margin in 2017 than Phil did last time—lost his race. This result shows that in a potential Republican wave year, every Democrat is vulnerable. In 2010 and 2014, incumbent Democrats in Colorado lost in their re-election campaigns. In Phil’s AG race, he needs to prepare for out-of-state spending by the Republican AG Association, which spent almost $6 million last time and could easily spend well beyond that this year. This is not an easy task.
So, what is the ask? Please join me at 5:30 on September 6th to learn more about Phil. If you feel so inclined at that time, please make a donation to support his effort. If you can’t join us, but want to support his efforts in getting re-elected and continuing to serve this state through very important action you can make a contribution you can do so here.
If you are able to join, please RSVP for the event HERE. You can make a donation at that time or select one of the free ticket options and make a donation later if you feel inclined.
