- "It's been nice this year to have a group to connect with and realize that we're all in these struggles together. Thank you for your support!” – SN

Group Discussion Meetings

CHOW group discussions are open to all – chefs, servers, bussers, bartenders, owners, suppliers, farmers, writers, dishwashers, and industry veterans. Virtual meetings can be accessed from any location, please be aware of the time zones listed.

Our meetings provide a space for open conversation, whether focused on a specific topic or whatever is on our minds. We start with a check in, then an icebreaker to connect, then dive into shared experiences. Each session is guided by an “ExPOS”—someone with lived industry experience and training in mental health and recovery. Participation is always voluntary, and sobriety is not required. (See below for our recorded speakers.)

Amuse’ Mental Health Course

CHOW offers our accredited Mental Health Amuse’ Course on a monthly basis. These 4 hours of training are free for industry workers and are meant to shine light on some of the most pressing issues affecting workplace wellness.

Contact us to schedule an Amuse’ course for your community or organization!

Why We Meet

Meetings are a protected, non-judgmental space to share experiences, learn from others, and feel less alone. They provide support, practical tools, and connection with people who understand the food, beverage, and hospitality industry.

Let’s talk about it.

Guest Speaker FAQs

Interested in becoming a guest speaker for a CHOW meeting? We’re always looking for industry professionals to share their experiences and insights with our community. Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about the process, expectations, and how you can get involved. Please reach out to community@chowco.org with more questions!

Anyone who would like to share their story is welcome to be a CHOW Guest Speaker!

Do you have a passion you’d like to share the with the community? Have you learned something you think people could benefit from? Do you want to share your journey with mental health, wellness and recovery? Contact community@chowco.org to talk about Guest Speaking today!

Please organize your subject matter beforehand. If you have any doubts as to your memory – and remember, you may experience stage fright – prepare written notes. After preparing them, follow them closely or you may get off on a tangent, find yourself in a thicket of verbiage, and have difficulty in finding your way back into your notes. If you want to do a dry run or share the information with someone before the talk, please email community@chowco.org for further support.

For your Guest Speaking meeting, you will join us in a CHOW Discussion group room. The meeting will begin with our Temperature Take, and then the ExPOS will introduce you to the group. You have 20-25 minutes that is all yours to share your story.  At 20 minutes we will send you a 5 minute warning; we will then move to a Q&A from attendees in the room.

While CHOW Discussion Groups are never recorded to honor confidentiality, our Guest Speaker meetings are a little different – we want folks to be able to hear your story! We have a Speaker Release that Guest Speakers sign that allows for us to record your meeting, which we will then share to our YouTube channel.
