I’m Jess and I come from a diverse background in the foodservice industry. I’ve done a little bit of everything from resorts, to cooking schools, to wine bars, working in the back of the house. I went to Johnson and Wales’ culinary program to learn how to run an operation. My ultimate dream was to run my own business being a private chef, doing dinner parties and teaching people how to cook in their own kitchens. Not only did I struggle with how to handle my mental health, taking time for myself, how to move up in the ranks while in the industry, and with making enough money to start a business, but I watched family and friends struggle and even lose their battles as well.
Before covid started, I switched industries to personal finance to help people in a different way, when I came across CHOW. I felt I was able to give more back to the people that I’ve worked alongside who were just like me, now that I had been through some healing and growth. And now I can impart the wisdom I’ve learned in my new industry with the people who need it the most by overseeing the organization’s financial opportunities and teaching industry folks how to take control of their finances.
